IWSG DAY, JUNE 3, 2020, It’s Nobody’s Business But Mine by Pat Garcia

Hello Everyone,

It is IWSG Time!

IWSG is a writers' support group created and led by Alex Cavanaugh.

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

This group is an immense help to many of us who do not mind sharing our insecurities, our successes, or giving encouragement and support to others.

So, if you are interested and would like to join, the link below will lead you directly to us:

Our awesome co-hosts for today are  J.Q. Rose, Natalie Aguirre, and myself, Pat Garcia.

Submission: The Writer Magazine – Non-Fiction Challenge (Results Still Outstanding)

It’s Nobody’s Business But Mine  by Pat Garcia

I don’t like sharing my secrets. Knowing that life here is not permanent, I don’t want everybody digging up bones that I have hidden. When I am gone, I want them to stay buried and go down to the grave with me.

That’s not being somber. It is a decision that I made some while ago.

Wishing all of you a beautiful warm and sunny June month.

Shalom aleichem,

Pat Garcia

  1. Hi Pat, I appreciate that you decided not to share any secrets as well as the sound reason for that!
It's my first time participating in the IWSG and I have a technical problem to resolve. Accidentally, I added the blog post link to the linky as opposed to my blog link. Then I added my blog link separately. How do I remove my blog post link from the linky? I would really appreciate your help. Thank you!

I can respect your reason for not sharing your secrets.
If I have any, I don't mean to. I try not to have things to hide.

  10. Fair enough. Some secrets should stay that way.

  19. I couldn't agree with you more, Pat. I struggled with this topic, almost skipped it, and came up with... something. But your post strikes more to my soul than my own.

  20. They are secrets for a reason. Thank you for hosting this month.

  21. Thanks for co-hosting today! Do you Pat. And you’re right. Some secrets should be allowed to die and not be unearthed

  22. I agree. I dug up an easy "secret" that's more just something I haven't used in my writing. If I divulge the "big" ones, it will be for a reason and a purpose.
    Thanks for hosting this month!

  23. I admire your decision to leave the past buried. You are an eloquent writer and every time I read your posts I'm transported to another space and time.
    Stay healthy, my friend.

  24. You're perfectly entitled to keep them, besides, they're not secrets if we share them, are they?

  25. Wishing the same back to you, Pat. We're having storms today, but the sun will come through soon.

  26. Shalom aleichem, Pat. Thank you for co-hosting this month.

  27. Thanks for co-hosting!

You and I are of similar mind about secrets. When we have secrets there is a reason. I blather on openly about many things, but other things would not serve me well to reveal and not enhance anyone else's life either.

  32. Thanks for co-hosting, Pat! I'm with you on the secrets. I've shred some things in my life, but definitely not all. Stay safe and well!

  33. I didn't share any secrets either, but don't know that I have any. Some things my reader would not know by reading but they are not secrets. Too hard to keep I guess, lol. Happy IWSG. Hope you are staying well and safe.

  34. Thanks for hosting! That's why they are called secrets!

  35. Great attitude, Pat. I agree. Thanks for cohosting this month.

  36. I fully respect your answer, Patricia. They're not called secrets for nothing! I have some I prefer to keep very close to my chest. Maybe one day they will appear in my writing. Thank you for co-hosting this month!

  37. Wise words, Pat. There's something to be said for being discreet. Once something is out in the open, it's impossible to rein it back in.
    Thanks for hosting this month!

  39. Good luck with your submission! I, too, have secrets that will always be solely mine. And that's the way it should be. Thank you for co-hosting!

  40. Yep! Secrets are secrets. I enjoy sharing many things about my life and I have a big mouth (I had to think hard for an answer about this month’s question, but it was more about “little known facts” than “secrets”), but other people’s secrets (and some of my own) stay safe and hidden. Thanks for co-hosting!

  41. Thanks for co-hosting this month Pat. So glad you've found what works for you with regard to secrets. Different strokes for different folks as the saying goes.
