Forge, Forte, Fortitude, Foster from The Child and The Prophet

A warm meal and a goodnight’s sleep and The Child awoke at dawn. Used to traveling at night with Mr. Raccoon, her schedule had changed once she met up with The Prophet.  After breakfast, the three walked down the rest of the mountain.  The sea lay before them and The Child, thinking that she’d forgotten how to walk on water, feared the impending journey that lay ahead.  Concentrating on her fears, she was unaware of the conversation between Mr. Raccoon and The Prophet.

“You have fostered her well, Mr. Raccoon,” The Prophet said.

“She doesn’t realize it. Seldom have I had charge of such an inquisitive Child.”

“But stubborn,” said The Prophet with a chuckle.

“Yes, stubborn she is.  She’s mighty quiet. What is she thinking about now?”

“The journey ahead, Mr. Raccoon. There lie obstacles that she must overcome.”

“Does she have the fortitude to get through them?”

“Yes.”

“You were with her all the time as she traveled to meet you around the bend?”

“I know, but sometimes her desideratum to see instead of believing clouds her view.”

The two approached shallow cove surrounded by different types of wildflowers. The Child was farther ahead of them and The Prophet called out.

“Stop, Child. We must go into the cove.”

“There’s water in the cove.”

“I know.”

The Child, dipping her feet into the shallow water, walked to the opening of the cove.  Surprised, she shrieked.

“Prophet, Lily Pad is in here.”

“Of course, Child did you think I would let you forge ahead on the water with your uncertainty?”

“You mean, I don’t ever have to walk on water again?”

The Prophet and Mr. Raccoon both broke out into laughter.

“Of course, you do. That’s your forte, Child, but at the right time.”
