IWSG DAY, MARCH 1, 2023, ENVY IS NOT MY STYLE; I JUST WANT TO BE THE WRITER I AM By Pat Garcia @TheIWSG @WEP @pat_garcia

Good Morning, EVERYONE!

Welcome to our third IWSG Day of the year, 2023.

IWSG is a writers' support group created and led by Alex Cavanaugh.

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It's a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

This group is an immense help to many of us who do not mind sharing our insecurities and successes or giving others encouragement and support.

So, if you are interested and would like to join, the link below will lead you directly to us.

The awesome co-hosts for the March 1 posting of the IWSG are Diedre Knight, Tonya Drecker,Bish Denham, Olga Godim, and JQ Rose!

SUBMISSIONS: None for this month.

My short story Late Bloomer has been released and can be purchased on Amazon,Apple iBooks, Barnes and Nobles, Kobo, and many other online stores.

ENVY IS NOT MY STYLE; I JUST WANT TO BE THE WRITER I AM

I read many good books from highly talented authors, and do my best not to compare myself to them. Comparison is deadly for any writer. It fires up envy. The authors I read are simply fabulous in what they write, and usually, if I get stuck in my own story, I can pick up one of their books and read myself out of the blockage. Each writer is born with a purpose, and their talent and way of writing are unique.  Therefore, I am far from envious and want to stay that way. I want to be the writer I am, not who they are.

Have a lovely month of March, everyone, and take care.

Shalom shalom,

Pat Garcia

  7. Congrats on your new story release.
You're right. Comparing ourselves with other writers is pointless. They are for us to read and admire. And learn from.

  9. Well Pat as I said in my post, I read a lot and learn a lot through reading. I guess it's not actually 'envy', rather inspirational, egging me on to higher heights. Glad to see you have another release! Congrats!

  10. I never thought of reading out of a writing blockage. Great idea. I'm with you, I don't envy other writers, but I do try to see what it is in their writing that holds my interest.
