Calling

Calling, according to Merriam-Webster's  Collegiate Dictionary, is a strong inner impulse toward a particular course of action, especially when accompanied by conviction of divine influence. This is a scary word  because it challenges every person to take a look at those darkly covered muddy stones hidden within his or her life. Calling causes unrest within the soul and spirit.

The strong inner urge to do something,

  • To move toward or back away from,
  • To start a  task or to finish it,

Shakes your inner foundation, as it introduces imbalance.

Calling calls the person out of a lethargic, don't care world, where the hidden talents have been placated with an abundance of things.

It  makes you realize that happiness is not found in poverty or wealth, when its voice is heeded.

The willingness to serve based on our own abilities of what  we can  do, and not what others can do, becomes a reality in our own world, and an art of selflessness develops mixed with integrity and love. Concern about what someone else is doing does not play a role anymore, because we are too busy fulfilling our own calling.

Calling defies negativity, and it

  • Drives you on your discovery to uncover your secrets stones,
  • Helps you to focus,
  • Comforts you as you walk out your destiny,
  • And it shines, as the stones that were once crusted with mud become the diamonds in your life.

  1. Pat, such a lovely post to heed the call. It needs a listening and willing ear to hear one's own voice being heard, and answering its call. We do hear others' call and respond to it, but we especially need to hear our OWN call to our OWN selves.
Thank you - I will reflect on this.

  3. lovely, Pat. At the moment my calling seems to be writing, which is taking up SO much time, but I don't mind - even though so far it is only a labour of love. Maybe my book will sell, who knows? Visit me at Reincarnated as a Writer, just above you in the list!

  4. What a true encouraging word...now if we can each find what ours is.

  6. Sometimes, I think I missed my calling or will never hear it. Do we all have callings? I don't know. Being the best person - while that may be a cliché - is a calling that we all can strive for.
