Karabiner, Karyotype, A Fable from The Child and The Prophet

The Child, amazed at her energy output, trying to pull Mr. Whale, relaxed on Lily Pad as they floated past a mountainous region.  Lily Pad stopped.

"Come, Child. Follow me and bring your karabiners with you."

"Why, Prophet?"

"We're going to climb and stay overnight up on those rocks."

"Oh, what I wouldn't give for some fresh fish."

"I thought you love eating your warm seaweed, Child."

"I do, Prophet. Just want to switch up sometimes."

"Do you have your karabiners and your rope?"

"Yes, Prophet. Do you really want to climb instead of going fishing?"

"Yes."

"Prophet?"

"Yes?"

"What's a karyotype?"

"Did you learn about chromosomes, Child?"

"Yes, Prophet. I learned that a long time ago. That's what I'm made of."

"Oh, interesting."

"You mean because I'm two X's and one Y I'm a karyotype?"

"Who told you that, Child?"

"You did."

"No, I didn't.  Come so we can start."

To climb the rocks, The Child used her karabiners. The Prophet rose behind her.

"I still don't understand karyotype, Prophet."

"I know."

"Then, why don't you tell me?" The Child asked as they reached the top.

"I think we'll eat fish tonight."

"You're not going to tell me, are you?"

"Why do you say that?"

"Because you changed the subject."

Suddenly a large bird, wings spread wide, flew over them and caught The Child's attention.  Its mouth full, it let its prey dropped at The Prophet's feet.

"Fish!" said The Child, surprised.

"Gaaaak, Gaaaak, Gaaaak," said the bird.

"Oh, Mr. Eagle, how happy I am to see you!" shouted The Child as she watched him touch down at her feet.
