Rest, Resonant, Resonance, Resonate, Res Judicata (Plural: Res Judicate) Roll, A Fable out of The Child and The Prophet

The time since The Child had last seen The Prophet rolled into weeks. She amused herself by walking upon the ocean daily with Octavio. Lily Pad would float along beside them.  Friendship resonated between the two and its resonance grew.  With no sign of Mr. Whale or Mr. Eagle and the disappearance of The Prophet, The Child and Octavio were now bosom buddies.

“Rest, Child.  I don’t know this part of the ocean well and would like to go under and investigate.”

“Do you think we're in danger, Octavio?”

“Don’t know."

Suddenly, the wind gathered speed; waves began to grow, and Lily Pad bumped into the back of her heels.

Wave

“Look likes a storm,” The Child said, as she looked out over the ocean and saw a distant wave coming at her.  She jumped on Lily Pad; the wave became larger. “Octavio, sink for cover on the ocean floor!”

“No, I can’t leave you here.”

“Let’s resonate toward a win-win agreement, Octavio.”

Octavio

“And that would be?”

“When I say sink, you go to the ocean floor.”

The wave increased in size and moved quickly.

“Sink!” shouted The Child as the wave picked up Lily Pad with her in it.   Riding high on top of the wave, she stood, holding her feet firmly on Lily Pad.

“Stand firm, Child!”

“Prophet?”

The Prophet

“You're looking good. Bend those legs a little!”

The wave ended abruptly; The Child and the Lily Pad hit the water.

“Weird."

“Not weird, Child. Just res judicata. You rode that storm perfectly.”
The Child

“Really, Prophet?”
“Yes. you made me proud.”

“Prophet?”
"Yes, Child?"
“What does res judicata mean?”

Quandary, Qui Vive, Quote, A Fable out of The Child and The Prophet

Not knowing where The Prophet was or when he would return had The Child in a quandary.  Her sense of belonging dissipated; her goals disjointed.

Octavio

Octavio observed her sunken her face as he listened to her murmur.

“What you’re murmuring, Child?”

“I’m not murmuring, I’m quoting.”

“What?”

“’You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life.’  This quote strengthens me when I’m confused, Octavio.”

“Who said it?”

“A man that couldn’t connect the dots but he trusted his gut, his destiny.”

“And your quandary?”

“It seems so complicated.  Know what I mean?”

“Yes. When I was small, I wanted to be big overnight, but it never happened. We develop as we pass through the stages. Progress is seen as we look behind us.”

“Yeah, The Prophet said I had to constrain myself to my course of action and stop trying to connect the dots. I wish he were here.”

“Your time is limited, don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living the result of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other opinions drown your own inner voice," The Child said aloud. "And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition, they somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary."

The Child

“Qui vive, Child?”

“What’s that, Octavio?”

“French.”

“I know, but what does it mean?”

“Long Lives who?”

“Yes! Vive le Prophète!” Said The Child and broke out into laughter.

Patrol, Pause, Perpendicular, Prophet, Purpose, A Fable out of The Child and The Prophet

The Child patrolled the water as she clapped and sang.

“Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker's man,
Bake me a cake as fast as you can,
Pat it and prick it and mark it with B,
And bake it in the oven for baby and me.”

The Child
She paused, looked down at the water to view the ocean floor.

No sight of Octavio.

She clapped again, singing,

“Patty cake, patty cake, baker's man.
Bake me a cake as fast as you can…”

That Octavio needed time to go to the bottom of the ocean and come back seemed terribly long.

Where is he?

Her stomach growled.

“Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker's man,
Bake me a cake as fast as you can,
Pat it and prick it and mark it with B,
And bake it in the oven for baby and me.”

Lily Pad

She sat upright on Lily Pad perpendicular to the ocean floor.  The water, calm, she only had to look down; the sea beneath her.  A tinge of blue came in sight and squibs landed on Lily Pad.

“Oh, Octavio, I’m so happy you’re back.”

“No need to worry. I always come back.”

“Do you like it down there?”

“Yes, Child.”

Octavio

“I wish I could be an octopus like you.”

“Oh, Child, you wouldn’t be happy.”

“Think so.”

“Know so. Your happiness lies in your aspiration and determination to achieve your purpose, Child.

“Oh, there you go, Octavio. Sounding just like The Prophet.”

“You asked.”

“So, what’s your purpose, Octavio?”

“To feed you, so let’s eat.”
