FACING FEAR
Two fears I regret not addressing at the beginning of my writer/author career were always feeling behind and the fear of not being approved of. I let these two fears derail me, and I was always playing catch-up and never satisfied with my work. It has taken me years to really see myself as being an author.
Not that I have everything under control or that my fears have disappeared, because they are still there, but I have learned to stand and keep moving forward and not let others' opinions keep me from doing what I know is best.
Wishing all of you a wonderful month of August. Take care.
Shalom shalom,
Pat Garcia

The opinions of others can trip us up as we need to listen to feedback and get advice but we take the not-so-good criticism to heart along with the good.
ReplyDeleteThanks for co-hosting today!
I'm glad you've confronted and dealt with your two fears. Thanks for co-hosting this month.
ReplyDeleteI believe most writers have those same fears. I have a boatload and keep them locked up, but they keep slipping out. Thanks for co-hosting. Happy August!
ReplyDeleteGlad you are facing those fears and moving forward.
ReplyDeleteAh the joys of the writing/publishing world! I tell people that all authors are bipolar. One minute we're on top of the world, the next, we're drowing in self-doubt. It's a lifestyle, eh?
ReplyDeleteKeep on standing!
ReplyDeleteIt takes courage to put your writing out there for others to see. Good for you! Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteThanks for co-hosting.
Hello, Pat. Nice to "see" you again. I hear ya...fears are brutal. Fear of failure is the one that gets me. I'm terrified of ending up broke and homeless. I'm so glad you're able to move forward despite your fears. I'm still working on that.
ReplyDeleteOur fears do hold us back, but it seems you've overcome those and on track. Thanks for being a co-host today, Pat!
ReplyDeleteI can so relate. I always felt so much pressure when people would share their word counts, mainly because I'm a pretty slow writer. Not that I've totally conquered my fears or insecurities either, but I've come to terms with my own process a little bit more.
ReplyDeleteBoy, those fears of not being accepted or not getting things right--they can really derail us. I've been working on some of those.
ReplyDeleteI applaud your policy of moving forward, no matter what. It takes courage and conviction to keep true to yourself against all odds.
ReplyDeleteThank you for being a co-host this month and for sharing those deepest fears about writing. What stands out, though, is your courage in moving forward, in telling those stories important to you. Now, I'm ready to read your work! Keep writing!
ReplyDeleteI quickly gave up the fear of lacking reader approval. Moved on to just wanting to approve of what I myself put out there.
ReplyDeleteThanks for co-hosting this sometimes merry/sometimes not band of insecure writers. The opinions of others and the perceived profundity of their judgments stop many people in their tracks throughout life. At least writers try - and we have this online support group to help us persevere!
ReplyDeleteCheers to you, Pat! Belief in yourself is truly important. Thanks for co-hosting today!
