Consistency

Good writing stems out of the consistency to read. William Faulkner once said, read everything you can get your hands on whether it is bad or good. You can learn from it all. I believe that.

When the consistency to read becomes a habit, it will kick you in your shinbone when you neglect it, and while you are saying, Ow, Ow, Ow, you will pick up a book and start reading again.

Consistency like perseverance is one of those hidden traits behind the success of every writer that is passionate about seeing that what he or she writes is read by others.

So, for the past five months, I have been learning how to consistently write better. I’d had to let go of some things that I love to do as I concentrate on something more important.

Am I making progress? I believe so, but I’m still waiting on the confirmation.

Until next month, this Georgia girl wishes all of you a lovely month of May and be safe.

Shalom aleichem,

Pat Garcia

Submissions March 2017

Glimmer Train – The Box in the Loft
Lascaux Review – The Woman and Her Dream
Masters Review – Turn the Lights On

I had one submission, outstanding since last year in May or June:  Found out through one of my critique groups that Wordhaus is defunct and no longer publishing.

Honouring the A to Z Blog Challenge 2017

Writers and bloggers from all over the world left the starting line April first and started marching or running toward the finishing line of the A to Z Blog Challenge.  Normally, I would be one of those writers, but this year, my priorities do not permit it. However, I wish those who are participating the very best, and I hope that everyone who starts crosses the finishing line.

Thanks to the A to Z Blog Challenge, I have learned much about storytelling.  There are some astonishing writers among the whole bunch of writers participating.

As for me, I am moving toward another finishing line.  When I cross it, I will tell you all about it.

Wishing all of you a fantastic April and be safe.
Until next month,

Shalom aleichem,

Wordhaus. Haven’t got an answer yet, but maybe they take a long time to deliberate.

I start submitting this month.

Cover Reveal:  Still Me…After All These Years

Don’t Belittle The Small Steps

Changes in my author life find me picking up the gauntlet every morning as I walk on another level.  I’m learning not to belittle the small steps.

How many steps I take each day, I don’t know.  Time is irrelevant in the spiritual world where human eyes cannot see or grasp what's happening.  It is scary but exhilarating. Determination and faith get me up every morning and keep me going throughout my day.  Small steps, don’t belittle the small steps.

 Easy? No!

Sometimes the wind blows hard in my face. But each small step taken during my day makes me happy.  At night, I sleep better.  Cause I don't belittle the small steps.

Two small steps: In February, I made the shortlist for the WEP Challenge with my short flash fiction, The Box in the Loft.

In the anthology, Still Me…After All These Years, my first published non-fiction work will appear. Small Steps.  Don’t belittle the small steps!

Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand. Zechariah 4:10 (New Living Translation by Tyndale House Foundation)

Be safe and until next month,

Shalom aleichem,
