IWSG DAY, JULY 4, 2025, WRITING OUTSIDE OF MY CHOSEN GENRES BY Pat Garcia

Welcome to our SEVENTH IWSG Day of the year 2025.

IWSG is a writers’ support group created and led by Alex J. Cavanaugh.

At IWSG, we believe in the power of sharing and encouragement. Writers of all levels and genres can express their doubts and concerns without fear of judgment. Our community is a haven for all insecure writers!

This group is an immense help to many of us, as we are willing to share our insecurities and successes or offer encouragement and support to others.

So, if you’re a writer seeking a supportive community, IWSG is the place for you. Join us and experience the benefits of sharing your journey with like-minded individuals. The link below will lead you directly to us.

WRITING OUTSIDE OF MY CHOSEN GENRES

I write in various romance genres, as well as nonfiction. That is enough for me. However, I do read outside of the various romance genres, and I read a lot of nonfiction.

I don’t plan on writing outside of these areas, but who knows? Everything must change; nothing remains the same.

Have a lovely Fourth of July and enjoy the rest of July.

  2. I admire you for writing romance. It's not a genre I'd be good at writing.

  3. There's no reason to branch out if what you're doing works for you.

  5. Happy Fourth, Pat! It's great to know what you love to write and what you're good at. I'm sure writing both fiction and nonfiction helps you get better at both.

  6. Short and sweet - you read romance, you write romance and yet you say who knows about writing in another genre. I love the reminder - Everything must change. Happy IWSG day

  7. Anonymously Esther O'Neill, - East of the Sun. Agree with Crystal - Not sure I could write romance. In traditional, classic UK romances, what do heroines do all day, apart from being in love ?

  8. Anonymously Esther O'Neil, East of the Sun. Agree - no need to branch out. Not sure I could ever write romance. In the UK classics, what do the heroines do all day , apart from be in love ?

  9. Romance is so wonderful that it's tough to veer outside of the genre!

  10. You are definitely a romance writer, Pat. I enjoyed your latest "The Touch of Power" which I recently read. I think each of us is compelled to tell the stories in us, whatever the genre! Happy creating the stories you love!
